Trip to Porto from Terra Rosa

Updated: Jan 31

Porto is a tough place to leave, with fascinating cobblestone districts and the inspiring book shop where J.C.Rowling was a regular customer at Lello.  As soon as you walk in the door, and before you can say “Voldemort” (he who must not be named), you’ll notice a resemblance between the shop’s undulating crimson staircase and the Grand Staircase at the Hogwarts school of wizardry.  Others say it reminds them of Flourish and Blotts, where young sorcerers buy their magic manuals.

Also vibrant nightlife and a wealth of great restaurants. And yet, there’s a whole world of intrigue just beyond the city.

Northern Portugal as many, towering medieval castles and hilltop vineyards with jaw-dropping views are among the many attractions awaiting you on a day trip from Porto. Whether you’re seeking a nature escape with rugged trails and waterfalls or want to explore some surprisingly amorous elements of village life in the Minho, Porto makes an ideal gateway to the wonders of northern Portugal.

We stayed in the most beautiful boutique hotel

Terra Rosa Country House and Vineyard near the village of Ponte de Lima where you will find the ancient stone bridge that spans the Rio Lima. Originally constructed by the Romans, and later in the medieval period, it was the only crossing point on the pilgrimage route from Braga to Santiago de Compostela (Spain).

Terra Rosa have there own Vinho Verde – Ponte de Lima is the center for Vinho Verde wine production, a refreshing, fizzy wine fermented from freshly harvested grapes (the name "Green Wine" means young grapes).

Terra Rosa Country House & Vineyards is the name of the agritourism that embodies the essence of Minho. Situated in "Quinta de Codeçosa," a family-owned estate belongs to Francisco Rosa and his daughter, Eliana Rosa, that dates back to 1758, the property comprises 70 hectares of a unique atmosphere, with 50 hectares of vineyards, gardens, pools and a chapel. The main house, along with other buildings, offers a comfortable and peaceful space to unwind, with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Access to the property is through an elegant entrance lined with cypress trees, between vineyards that are meticulously laid out. A place that you will never forget!
