Journey with Yoga: From Corporate Hustle to Inner Peace

Updated: Aug 16

STUDIO SOLZ YOGA by Laura Sanchez

Laura is a mother in her 30s with two beautiful children. A few years ago, Laura and her partner decided to move to Portugal, in search of a healthier and more balanced lifestyle. Her journey with yoga began long before she moved to Portugal when she relocated to the Netherlands at 18.

Discovering Yoga:

Her introduction to yoga was somewhat serendipitous. Back then, her colleagues were obsessed with hot yoga, so she decided to "Give it a try." Little did she know, this practice would become a pivotal part of her life.

A Wake-Up Call:

The first major wake-up call came when she discovered she was pregnant with her first child—six months into the pregnancy! The level of disconnection in her body was astonishing. Just as she came to terms with this surprise, her world was shattered by the sudden loss of her brother.

Finding Solace in Yoga:

Navigating grief while living in a foreign country and expecting a baby was an emotional rollercoaster. She found solace in her yoga classes. The yoga studio became her sanctuary, where she could finally listen to her body, breathe deeply, and appreciate the small things in life.

The Impact on Mental Health:

Yoga became more than just a physical practice; it became a lifeline for mental health. The mindfulness and meditation aspects of yoga helped her manage grief, health, and anxiety. Each session allowed her to release pent-up emotions and find a sense of calm amidst the chaos.

Teaching Yoga:

She decided to take her first Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) course, with the hope of becoming a source of refuge for others. As a yoga teacher, she strives to teach beyond the physical poses. Her goal is to create a welcoming environment for everybody and EVERY-BODY. Her classes and retreats reflect this philosophy, offering a safe space for people "to come together, find support, and embrace the community."

Conclusion:

Yoga has been a transformative journey for her, helping her navigate life’s challenges and find inner peace. Through teaching, she hopes to share this gift with others, providing them with the same refuge and support that yoga has given her.
